Review: Wax Paper

Fresh bread and unique spreads – must we say anymore? There are plenty of reasons why Los Angeles’ Wax Paper ranks high for us, including their homemade sandwiches and creative salads and sides – all made and served with the environment in mind.

Their sandwiches, named after National Public Radio (NPR) reporters, feature delicious bread, freshly cut meats and fun sauces. Some of our favorites include the:

  • Audie Cornish – a sweet and satisfying sandwich, served on a fresh baguette with black forest ham, honey butter, sea salt, cornichon vinegar, and shredded cheddar.
  • Neda Ulaby – a savory and spicy sandwich, served on fresh ciabatta with roast beef, ben’s onion dip, baby spinach, pickled beets, horseradish vinegar, and grated Swiss cheese.
  • Steve Julian – a spin on a bah minh sandwich, served on a baguette with roasted and shredded pork, miso aioli, jalapeno vinegar, cilantro, pickled carrots, daikon and cucumber.

The salads and sides also hold their own against the sandwiches. Wax Paper serves up some of the best coleslaw and pasta salad we’ve had, and we highly recommend the raw roots salad.

Note: Each location features a different menu, so make sure to do your homework beforehand.
